Best Potato Salad Recipe

November 15, 2024 By The Cooking Nurse No Comments

How to Make The Best Potato Salad Recipe

You typically need 3 professional references, a written recommendation from two elementary school teachers, and one certificate from your Sunday school teacher in order to be allowed to bring the potato salad to the family dinner, but this potato salad is family approved, easy to make, and guaranteed to keep everyone satisfied! All you need is the best ingredients and a good recipe!

What ingredients are in potato salad?

Potato salad is made differently across cultures, with each culture putting their own twist on the recipe. This potato salad recipe uses Idaho potatoes, frozen peas and carrots, mayonnaise, sweet relish, eggs, dijon mustard, and salt. Optional ingredients are freshly grated onion, onion powder, and garlic powder.

What Not to do When Making Potato Salad

When making potato salad, do not overcook the potatoes. If you boil them for too long, they will mash easily and become closer to mashed potatoes than potato salad. Avoid adding the condiments while the potatoes are hot. The mayonnaise will create a soft, mushy, and greasy feel to the potatoes that won’t be desirable. Avoid over mixing the condiments into the potatoes. Use a spoon to gently mix the condiments and avoid mashing the potatoes.

Ingredients

-2 1/2 lb of Idaho Potatoes

-1 tbsp Salt

-2 Eggs

-1/2 Cup of Mayonnaise

-1 cup of frozen Peas & Carrots

-2 tsp of Sweet Relish

-2 tsp of Dijon Mustard

-1 tsp Onion Powder

-1 tsp Garlic Powder

-1 tsp of Paprika

Directions

Peel your potatoes and cut them into squares. Each potato should be cut into approximately 6 cubes. Next, rinse the potatoes. Rinse the eggs, and add them to the pot along with the potatoes. Add salt and boil until potatoes are fork tender. Strain the water and allow the potatoes to cool. You place them in the refrigerator for 30 minutes or let them rest on the counter until they’re at room temperature.
Once your potatoes are cool, peel and dice the eggs and add them to the bowl. Microwave the frozen peas and carrots for approximately 2 minutes or until they’ve been brought to room temperature. Add them to the bowl along with mayonnaise, sweet relish, and dijon mustard. Using a large spoon, gently fold all the ingredients until they’re well incorporated. Serve and enjoy!
